EBRD Community Initiative:
Empower Youth and Take Care of Vulnerable
In the age of ever advanced technology where humankind developed artificial intelligence designed to make ultra-fast and sometime controversial decisions, there are people in various corners of the world who lack access to what United Nations Human Rights Council calls in its Special Rapporteur report the basic human right – the internet. Unlimited access to information is what most of us take for granted. Yet, there are many children and young adults in a small town of Devashtich (formerly known as Ghonchi) in Tajikistan who are either technology illiterate or not so internet savvy. Because of this, opportunities for self-development and growth are very limited. We need your help to fix that!
An old saying goes, "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."
We are organizing this fundraising to help set up a modern resource center with internet access in Secondary School 10 in Devashtich District, Tajikistan. With a total population of around 20,000 residents, this resource center will be open for all its visitors regardless of age. Its main objective is to promote employment of youth and young adults through their empowerment via access to educational programs and courses, training and most importantly knowledge sharing. The school administration has allocated two separate classrooms and we, with your support, are planning to refurbish it and equip the place with computers, office equipment and the internet. You have an opportunity to change the life of either one person or even an entire community. We need to raise GBP 20,000 and every donation counts, especially yours!
Our fundraising does not end here!
Healthcare center in Neknot village of Panjakent, 200 km west of Devashtich, provides basic healthcare services to village’s 13,000 inhabitants. The facility it is operating from was built back in 1970s and staff has been using an outdated equipment. We, with your support and help, are planning to refresh this center in a joint effort with Panjakent’s municipality who will construct a new building and with German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) who will complete interior and exterior works. We aim to raise GBP 12,000 for basic furniture which the new center is going to need.
All your donations and contributions will be doubled by EBRD’s Community Initiative program which is subject to the reporting requirements being met.

Charity New-Year Children's Concert (25 December 2022)
Charity New-Year Children's Concert "New Year Dreams" was successfully held on December 25, 2022 in Kokhi Sooroosh Concert Hall in Dushanbe thanks to the generosity of our distinguished donors.
The objective of the concert was to raise funding for rehabilitation of the Secondary School No 64 in Isfara City of Tajikistan, which was fully burnt as a result of the armed conflict on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border on September 14-18, 2022. Except our expenditures, we raised 25,000 Tajik Somoni, which is equivalent to USD 2500. All funds raised at this concert will be channeled for restoration of the above-mentioned concert. Reports on the use of funds will be shared with our esteemed donors, partners and those, who have become a part of this good cause respectively.
Taking this opportunity, we express our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed donors, partners, masters of ceremony, creative team, volunteers, friends who spread the word - to everyone who took part in organizing and holding this event. You made a double contribution: provided an opportunity for children from vulnerable groups (children with disabilities and orphans from boarding schools) to enjoy this event, and on the other hand, you helped raise funds to improve the lives of those in need in rural areas. The concert was held at a high level thanks to the professionalism and dedication of each member of our friendly team.
Thanks to the financial support of donors, about 600 students from boarding schools, children with disabilities, and children from low-income families were invited to the concert. Children and their parents enjoyed the concert a lot, received New-Year gifts, and the winners of the competitions received memorable prizes from our partner - Muzaffar Charity Foundation.
We thank all of our dear donors, partners, performers, and volunteers for their dedicated work in this concert.
We wish you all Happy New Year of 2023. Looking back on this year, we can't help but be grateful for everything we've done together with your support and generosity. Thank you for your immense support in 2022. Anticipating your support in the upcoming year.

Access to Quality Healthcare by Rural Population in Tajikistan
(2019 - present)
|
The Devashtich District Central Hospital faces a serious issue with its outdated physical infrastructure as well as a severe lack of medical supplies and equipment due to a lack of funding. This means that expecting mothers and patients with terminal or life-threatening diseases must travel to a different hospital for serious care. Unfortunately, the most capable hospital is located about an hour and a half drive away in the nearest major city: Khujand. Besides the major risk this causes at-risk patients, it also means that regular check-ups and other medical appointments (even if affordable) become much more of an ordeal to attend. PO Sadoqat has so far been able to provide three AC units and one refrigerator for storage of medicines (Phase I), renovated operating theaters and the intensive care unit of the hospital with the financial support of the German Embassy in Dushanbe, and is currently renovating four pediatric ward with the financial support of terre des hommes Germany, but they will need more funds in order to improve the outdated water and sanitation system and the deteriorated physical infrastructure to provide timely, lifesaving care. Access to Quality Education by the Rural Population in Devashtich District
(08/2020 - 04/2021)
|
The village of Ghazantarak, located in the Devastich district of Soughd province recently required an expansion to its main school: School No. 51. The local community started the process with its own resources, however, it sufficed for the construction of basement and walls only. Our improvement project (which concluded in April 2021) supported completion of the construction process, provided 34 sets of desks, two sets of tables and chairs for teachers, and two blackboards for the two additional classrooms. The project created 70 additional seats and thereby improved the access of nearly 10,000 residents of Ghazantarak village to quality education. NGO Sadoqat worked alongside the local community to plan and design this project, and in fact, the local community monetary contribution to the school amounted to about 20% of its cost. COVID-19 Response (June 2020)
|
In April 2020, the novel coronavirus began to impact Tajikistan, with hospitals and clinics all over the country being ill-prepared to face such a terrifying virus. NGO Sadoqat immediately got to work fundraising supplies for three hospitals in the Devastich, Shahriston, and Istaravshan districts, all located in the rural region of Soughd and servicing over 270,000 residents total. Our completed GoFundMe Campaign raised 1,775 USD, which we then used to purchase:

Improvement of Ghazantarak's Preschool (2015)
|
In 2014, the local Ghazantarak Preschool was in terrible condition and in need of repairs and supplies. Mr.Tojiev, a current volunteer with PO Sadoqat, began the process of renovating it on his own and then partnered with the NGO Sadoqat to continue and finish the full renovation. The preschool restarted operations soon after in 2015. Currently, the facility provides access to preschool education by 100 children of the village. However, the current building is outdated and there is a need to construct a new building in line with standards to ensure safety of children. The NGO Sadoqat plans to support the construction of a new facility building. We would be happy to cooperate with our dear donors and supporters. Donations are welcome. |
English Access Microscholarships Program (2009-2019)
|
The English Access Microscholarships Program supported by the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan, operated from 2009 to 2019 in the towns of Shahriston and Istaravshan. It worked to significantly improve participants’ English-language skills and thereby increase their chances of admission to universities and employment. The program mainly worked with underprivileged students who otherwise would never have had such an opportunity to study English. The monitoring results showed that at least 70 % of the program's beneficiaries were admitted to universities both inside and outside of Tajikistan. They also showed that the majority of these graduates returned to their hometowns and have been working in their local communities. |
